Law & Safety
18+ Rule
Buying, owning or playing with airsoft equipment is restricted to adults in Germany, Austria and Switzerland — there is no accompanied-minor exception most fields will accept.
Unlike some other shooting sports and hobby air guns, airsoft replicas that produce enough energy to actually be useful for skirmish play sit above the thresholds where a younger age would apply, so retailers verify age at purchase and fields verify it again at check-in, typically against photo ID.
This is treated as a hard line rather than a judgment call — a field letting a minor onto the pitch, even accompanied by a parent, is taking on real legal exposure, which is why age verification is one of the few rules virtually every site in the DACH region enforces identically. This is general information, not legal advice — always confirm current requirements with your national authority and your field before you buy, carry or play.
Parents sometimes ask whether a younger teenager can at least handle an unloaded replica at home under supervision — even that is legally fraught in Germany given the imitation-firearm rules, and is a question worth putting to a lawyer rather than a forum.
