Combat Boots
Combat boots give ankle support and a durable, aggressive sole for the running, crouching and uneven terrain a skirmish or MilSim game involves.
Ankle height and stiffness protect against rolled ankles on broken ground, one of the more common non-BB injuries on an outdoor field, while the sole tread is chosen for grip on mud, leaves and loose forest floor rather than pavement.
Beyond protection, boot choice affects endurance over a long game day: heavier, stiffer boots offer more support but tire the legs faster, while lighter, softer boots move quicker at some cost to ankle protection. Break-in matters as much as spec — new boots worn for the first time on game day are a common, avoidable source of blisters.
Sizing slightly larger than a regular shoe is common practice to leave room for thicker socks and for feet swelling over a long, active day, which is worth accounting for rather than sizing purely off everyday shoe measurements.
