Fire Selector
Also called: safety-semi-auto switch
The fire selector is the lever that switches an AEG between safe, semi-auto and full-auto, mirroring the control layout of the real firearm it copies.
Wired into the gearbox's trigger contacts, the selector physically blocks or allows the cut-off lever and contact plate to complete different circuits: safe breaks the circuit entirely, semi fires one shot per pull, and auto lets the piston cycle continuously as long as the trigger stays pressed.
Most AEGs replicate their real-steel counterpart's selector position and feel exactly, which matters for realism and for muscle memory under stress. A selector that feels loose or clicks between positions without engaging is usually a sign of a worn or misaligned selector plate inside the gearbox, not a wiring fault.
On competitive and speedsoft-tuned guns, some players disable full-auto entirely at the gearbox level regardless of what the selector shows, since a format that scores on precision gives full-auto fire little practical use anyway.
