Chest Rig

A chest rig is a harness of pouches worn over the torso without plate pockets, prioritising light weight and mobility over the protection profile of a plate carrier.

Stripped down to a shoulder harness and webbing panel or built-in pouches across the chest, a rig carries magazines, radios and admin gear without the bulk or heat of a full plate carrier — a common choice for speedsoft, hot-weather games, or players who simply don't want plates.

Some rigs are fixed-pouch designs sized for a specific loadout, while modular ones use MOLLE so pouches can be rearranged for a different role. Many players own both a rig and a carrier and switch based on the field and the day's temperature rather than picking one permanently.

Layering a rig over body armour or under a jacket changes how much room its harness actually needs, so it's worth adjusting straps with whatever else will be worn underneath already on, rather than fitting it alone first.
