CO2 Cartridge

Also called: 12g CO2 capsule

A CO2 cartridge is a small disposable steel canister, usually 12 grams, pierced inside a magazine to power a shot count that's roughly fixed regardless of temperature.

Loading one means threading it into a piercing cap until a pin punctures the seal, releasing pressurised gas that stays consistent across a much wider temperature range than green gas since CO2 pressure is far less temperature-dependent within normal outdoor conditions.

Cartridges are single-use and non-refillable, so cost per shot runs higher than a refillable gas or HPA tank, but the consistency and cold-weather reliability keep CO2 popular for pistols, revolvers and some rifles where predictable power matters more than running cost.

Buying in bulk is standard practice for regular CO2 shooters, since per-cartridge cost drops meaningfully at higher pack sizes and running out mid-event with no spares on hand is a common, avoidable way to end a game day early.
