Suppressor (Mock)

Also called: mock suppressor, fake silencer

An airsoft "suppressor" is almost always a solid, non-functional tube that threads onto the muzzle purely for looks, sometimes doubling as a tracer unit housing.

Since airsoft doesn't produce a gunshot's blast to suppress in the first place, these attachments do nothing acoustically — their entire purpose is matching a real-steel loadout's silhouette, and many hollow examples exist mainly as a shell for a tracer unit's LED and battery.

A small minority of designs do slightly muffle an AEG's mechanical piston noise by acting as a barrel extension with internal foam, but this is a minor side effect rather than the product's purpose, and it has no bearing on the BB's actual sound or velocity — legal restrictions on real suppressors don't apply, since there's nothing being suppressed.

Thread pitch compatibility is worth checking before buying — 14mm CCW is the most common standard on modern replicas, but older or budget guns sometimes use different threading that needs an adapter to fit a given mock suppressor.
