BB Consistency
Consistency describes how uniform a batch of BBs is in diameter, weight and roundness — the quality factor that separates budget ammo from precision-grade.
A BB that's slightly out of round or off the stated diameter behaves unpredictably in flight regardless of how well-tuned the gun is: tightbore barrels are especially sensitive since there's less air gap to absorb a BB's imperfections, and even the best hop-up setup can't compensate for BBs that aren't uniform shot to shot.
High-consistency BBs are precision-polished and sorted to tight tolerances, which shows up as significantly tighter groupings at range rather than any change in raw velocity. Serious players treat ammo quality as an upgrade in its own right, not just a consumable, because a top-tier internals rebuild fed with poor BBs still shoots inconsistently.
A simple home test some players use is rolling a sample of BBs down a slightly tilted flat glass surface — any that wobble or veer noticeably off a straight line reveal roundness problems a spec sheet alone won't show.
