BB Weight
BB weight, given in grams (0.20g, 0.25g, 0.28g and up), is the single biggest variable in how a shot actually performs downrange.
A heavier BB carries more kinetic energy at a given FPS reading, resists wind drift better, and retains velocity over distance more consistently than a light one — which is why serious players often shoot 0.25–0.32g even though it reads lower on a chrono calibrated for 0.20g.
Fields set their power limit against a specific reference weight precisely because switching weight changes the FPS number without changing the underlying joule energy much; a heavier BB at the same joule output simply moves slower and hits harder per gram. Matching BB weight to barrel length and hop-up setting is a core part of dialing in accuracy.
Buying a small sample pack of several weights before committing to a case is common practice, since the "best" weight genuinely depends on a specific gun's hop-up and barrel rather than being a single universal answer.
