Deans / T-Plug Connector
Also called: T-connector
Deans and T-plug are two common high-current battery connectors that replaced the older Tamiya plug as AEGs moved to higher-discharge LiPo packs.
Both connectors use two flat, gold-plated bullet-style contacts sized for higher continuous current than a Tamiya connector can reliably carry, which matters as C-ratings and motor draw climb on tuned internals. Deans and T-plug are electrically similar but not interchangeable in shape — a gun and battery need matching connectors, or an adapter.
Because the airsoft market never fully standardised on one, most technicians keep a stock of both connector types and adapter leads on hand, and a common upgrade when rewiring a gun is to move it off Tamiya onto whichever of the two the owner's battery collection already uses.
Soldering a new connector on is a basic skill worth learning early, since a battery and a gun with mismatched connectors otherwise means either buying an adapter lead or being unable to use them together at all.
