Gearbox V3

The V3 shell is built for AK-pattern rifles, with the motor mounted lower and further forward than a V2 to match the AK's grip angle.

Functionally the gear train and piston work the same way as any other AEG shell — the differences are external, sized and shaped to fit an AK-pattern lower and its distinctive selector lever, which on real steel and most replicas doubles as a dust cover.

Because AKs are a smaller share of the AEG market than M4 platforms, V3 parts are less abundant and sometimes pricier than V2 equivalents, though the same core upgrades — spring, piston, gears, MOSFET — apply. A tech comfortable with V2 internals can usually move to V3 without relearning the fundamentals, just the shell-specific fitment.

A common mistake when upgrading a V3 is reusing a V2 motor without checking pinion height, since even a millimetre of mismatch causes gear whine or premature wear that's easy to blame on the wrong part entirely.
