Sling (Weapon Sling)
A sling carries a gun's weight across the body between engagements, freeing both hands for climbing, communicating or handling gear without setting the weapon down.
Two-point slings attach at the front and rear of the gun and are the most common general-purpose choice, letting the gun hang across the chest or drop to the side while staying quickly retrievable; single-point slings attach at one location near the receiver, letting the gun swing freely for very fast transitions at the cost of it bouncing more during movement.
Sling mounting points are usually MOLLE or QD (quick-detach) sockets built into a stock, handguard or receiver, chosen to keep the gun accessible without it ever needing to touch the ground during a long game — a small piece of gear that matters more than its low cost suggests.
Practicing a transition from slung to shouldered and back, repeatedly and slowly, before relying on it in a game builds the muscle memory that makes a sling genuinely fast to use rather than something that gets in the way under pressure.
