FIBUA / MOUT

Also called: Fighting In Built-Up Areas, MOUT

FIBUA (or the US MOUT) names both the real military doctrine of fighting through urban terrain and, in airsoft, purpose-built town-like sites that recreate it at scale.

A FIBUA site typically has multiple connected structures, streets, alleys and multi-storey buildings rather than the single-structure layout of a standard CQB site, letting scenarios involve movement between buildings, rooftop routes and street-level engagements all in one game.

Because the scale is larger than indoor CQB but the terrain is still built-up rather than open field, FIBUA scenarios sit between skirmish and full MilSim in intensity and are popular for events built specifically around urban tactics — clearing buildings, holding intersections, coordinating team movement through a townscape.

Vertical movement is what catches new players off guard most in this format — stairwells, rooftops and multiple floors add a whole dimension of threat that a single-storey CQB building simply doesn't have to account for.
