Offset Mount

An offset mount angles a secondary red dot 45 degrees off the top rail, giving fast close-range aiming by tilting the gun without abandoning a magnified primary sight.

A player running a magnified scope as their primary optic loses fast, both-eyes-open close-quarters aiming — an offset-mounted red dot fixes that by sitting ready at a 45-degree angle, accessed simply by canting the gun slightly rather than switching optics or flipping a magnifier.

This setup is most common on DMR or designated-marksman-style builds that need to cover both a longer engagement with the primary scope and a sudden close encounter without fumbling for a different sight, giving genuinely both capabilities on one gun rather than compromising on either.

Practicing the specific canting motion needed to bring the offset dot into view, rather than assuming it'll be intuitive under pressure, is what actually makes this setup fast in a real close encounter rather than just in theory.
