Mandatory Eye Protection
Rated eye protection is required at essentially every field in the DACH region without exception, enforced as a condition of both safety policy and insurance coverage, not a house-style suggestion.
Unlike joule limits or engagement distance, which vary meaningfully between sites, the requirement for certified eye protection is close to universal — no reputable field allows play without it, and most extend the requirement to the moment a player steps anywhere near an active game area, not just during active engagement.
Enforcement is typically immediate and non-negotiable: a marshal seeing eye protection slip or come off will stop that player's game on the spot, and repeated violations can mean removal from the field for the day — a stricter, more consistently enforced standard than almost any other single rule in the sport. This is general information, not legal advice — always confirm current requirements with your national authority and your field before you buy, carry or play.
Keeping a spare pair in a bag is genuinely worth the small extra cost, since a single scratched, fogged or lost pair of eye protection mid-day would otherwise end a whole day of play with no easy fix available on site.
