Holographic Sight

Also called: holosight

A holo sight projects a laser-generated holographic reticle onto a window rather than reflecting an LED dot, giving a more complex reticle and better off-axis viewing.

The reticle image is recorded holographically and illuminated by a laser diode, which lets it show far more detail than a simple dot — ranging marks, a circle-and-dot combo, bullet-drop compensation lines — while staying viewable at a wider range of viewing angles than most reflex-style red dots.

The trade-offs are higher power draw, more weight and a higher price than a comparable red dot, which is why holo sights are more common on realistic replicas of specific real-steel optics than as a general-purpose default — many airsoft players choose one primarily to match a particular loadout's look rather than for a functional edge.

Because the reticle image is more complex than a simple dot, a holo sight's window can also be slightly larger and heavier than an equivalent red dot, which is worth weighing against the aesthetic and functional benefits before choosing one for a lightweight build.
