Internals & Tuning
Motor
The motor is the electric drive that spins the gear train, and its torque and speed characteristics shape rate of fire as much as any mechanical part.
Motors are broadly tuned toward torque (better for heavier springs and cold-weather reliability) or speed (higher rate of fire on lighter setups), described by winding type and turn count rather than a single power figure. Height and shaft length also matter — the wrong motor height causes gear mesh problems no amount of tuning elsewhere fixes.
A worn or mismatched motor is one of the most common causes of an AEG that cycles inconsistently or stalls under load, and pairing motor choice with spring rating and battery C-rating is one of the first things a tech checks when diagnosing weak performance.
Manufacturers rarely publish directly comparable torque or speed figures, so most buyers rely on community testing and reviews rather than spec sheets alone when picking a motor to match a given spring weight.
