Weapons Possession Card (WBK)

A WBK is the German firearms-possession licence that becomes relevant if a replica's energy pushes it out of the lightly regulated Anscheinswaffe category and into full weapons-law territory.

Because the vast majority of airsoft replicas stay at or under the 0.5-joule threshold, most players never need to interact with the WBK system at all — it belongs to the much smaller world of higher-power replicas and real firearms, not everyday skirmish gear.

Where it does come up is with certain higher-power builds or specific full-auto-capable replicas that a jurisdiction treats more like a real firearm than an imitation one; anyone considering that route is dealing with the same licensing process, background checks and record-keeping as a real gun owner, not a lighter airsoft-specific version of it. This is general information, not legal advice — always confirm current requirements with your national authority and your field before you buy, carry or play.

Because so few private individuals hold one purely for airsoft, most higher-power replica play instead happens under a club's or field's own institutional licensing arrangement rather than an individual member's personal WBK.
