Helmet Cut (High-Cut / Mid-Cut / Full-Cut)

Helmet cut describes how much ear and jaw coverage a helmet's shell leaves open, a trade-off between headset compatibility and coverage that mirrors real tactical helmet design.

High-cut shells stop well above the ears, leaving maximum room for over-ear or in-ear comms and full peripheral hearing; mid-cut splits the difference; full-cut covers down over the ears, closer to older ballistic helmet designs, at the cost of headset fit and airflow.

The choice is mostly about what else is being worn on the head: players running a chunky comms headset or NVG mount almost always pick high-cut for clearance, while full-cut is chosen more for silhouette and coverage in games where realism outweighs the comms trade-off.

Trying a helmet on with the actual headset and eyewear intended for regular use is the only reliable fit test, since photos alone rarely show how a specific cut interacts with a specific pair of glasses or ear cups.
