Site Liability Insurance
A properly run field carries liability insurance covering injury on-site, and many of the rules players find strict — MED, mandatory eye pro, briefings — exist partly because the insurer requires them.
Insurers underwriting an activity involving projectiles fired at people set conditions as a precondition of coverage: documented safety briefings, enforced eye protection, energy limits checked at chrono, and often a waiver signed by every participant acknowledging the inherent risk.
For a player, this is worth knowing because a field's specific rules aren't arbitrary house preferences — deviating from them, even with a marshal's informal okay, can put both the player and the site outside what the insurance actually covers if something goes wrong, which is part of why marshals enforce them so consistently. This is general information, not legal advice — always confirm current requirements with your national authority and your field before you buy, carry or play.
A player asking to see a field's insurance and safety documentation before a first visit is a completely reasonable request, and a well-run commercial site will typically have no hesitation showing it.
