Ammo & Accuracy

Biodegradable BB

Also called: bio BB, biodegradable ammo

Biodegradable BBs are made from a resin blend that breaks down under soil and moisture over time, and most outdoor fields now require them exclusively.

Standard polymer BBs are effectively permanent litter once they land in grass or forest floor, and outdoor fields across Europe increasingly ban anything else for exactly that reason — a field's rules on bio-only ammo are typically non-negotiable, unlike most other equipment choices.

Early biodegradable formulas had a reputation for lower consistency and looser tolerances than premium non-bio ammo, but higher-end bio BBs from established manufacturers now match non-bio precision closely enough that the choice is essentially site policy rather than a real performance trade-off for most players.

Storing bio BBs somewhere genuinely dry matters more than with standard ammo, since the same moisture sensitivity that lets them biodegrade outdoors can also degrade an unopened bag left in a damp garage over a season.
