Gas Mask (Airsoft Use)

Real military or civilian-defence gas masks provide filtered breathing and true eye/face sealing, but the ones seen on airsoft fields are typically decorative shells with a lens that must itself carry a genuine impact rating — the mask's aesthetic doesn't substitute for certified eye protection.

Fields generally allow them as cosmetic loadout pieces provided the lens or an underlying pair of rated eyewear meets the site's protection standard, and provided breathing and field of view stay adequate for safe play — a mask that fogs badly or restricts vision is a safety liability regardless of how good it looks.

Testing breathing comfort and field of view for a full game's length before actually wearing one on the field is worth the trouble, since some masks that feel fine for a few minutes become genuinely uncomfortable or vision-limiting over hours.
