Low-Cap Magazine

Also called: real-cap magazine

A low-cap magazine matches the real firearm's actual round count — often 20–30 for a rifle — the strictest, least forgiving capacity option available.

Some low-caps use a spring follower like a mid-cap at a much smaller capacity; others are true single-stack designs that only ever feed the number of BBs a real magazine would hold, chosen specifically by players running the strictest MilSim events where realistic ammo counts are part of the ruleset.

Because reloads happen so much more often, low-cap shooters carry proportionally more spare magazines and lean on faster reload technique and gear placement — this is where magazine pouch layout on a chest rig or plate carrier actually matters tactically, not just aesthetically.

Some players run a mixed loadout deliberately — low-caps for realism during roleplay-heavy moments, with a hi-cap kept as an emergency backup — rather than fully committing to the strictest possible ammo discipline all game long.
